b) The studio and rehearsal space is now situated in Manor House.1 It is a self contained unit, comprised of a sizable soundproofed live-room separated by a glass door from the control room. It functions as a rehearsal room for affiliated bands and as a professional but affordablerecording studio. It can also be rented out as a daytime rehearsal space for touring acts. Upstairs there is a small room which contains a toilet and at least one book on the corrupt nature of the music industry : The studio is primarily run by Michael Page with Bill Kenny, but decisions are generally made with some reference to the opinions of the bands.
The studio is equipped with a tuned piano, vintage guitar amps, a drum kit, a Hammond organ, a Wurlitzer,2 several high quality microphones and a variety of keyboards and sound-tools of varying use and value. Recording sessions are available to artists and bands at negotiable rates and are engineered by Mike Page, a qualified engineer and/or producer who also offers a mixing and mastering service. The ethos of the studio is to attempt to get the best possible out of a band, without a catch all conception of how this is achieved. Recording sessions have in the past ranged from the standard and traditional to the collaborative and experimental, not to mention the confrontational and intoxicated.
The studio has been active since 11th January 2007 and is in its third (now long term) residence. Two of the walls are green, the tube is nearby and food is within easy reach.
Recordings at the studio are usual untaken for one of three reasons, love of music, love of money or love of friends. It is rare that all three are present. Some of the studios recent work can be found here
