Model Boat

Model Boat play math rock with its origins in post-punk. This is ecstatic music, unafraid to make use of riffs, cymbals, shouting and the stop-start principle. Fresh from a gig in Bristol the night before, they promise to end the night on a high.

Kleinzeit

Kleinzeit deal in arcane and melodic pop with an unpredictable edge. You can dance or you can cry, the choice is entirely yours. The first of two appearances in the combination summer programme, this set will include material from their forthcoming EP.

Sweet Bread

Sweetbread plays a form of folk which fuses the beauty and fragility of the bardic tradition with a less savoury feeling for Dadaist confusion. How seriously you take it might depend on your relationship with the idea that life is a cruel joke. Live shows tend to be mesmerising. His second record, Death of a Lion, is available now.

The Seal Cub Clubbing Club

SCCC hail from the Wirral Peninsula. They play enjoyably warped post-punk with unsettling vocals, have supported The Fall, are favourites of Mark Riley’s 6 Music show and run their own book club at shows. This performance celebrates the release of their new record, made at thecombinationof… studio.

Kleinzeit

Kleinzeit are a London three piece who played their first show this time last year. They sound like pop music might have done if something hadn’t gone horribly wrong. Expect Melodic guitar parts, virtuoso drums, stories you don’t always understand and the chance to buy their first record.

Tessellators

Tessellators play rock music with an edge of sonic experimentation and an eye for the details. Influences include Beefheart, Fugazi and The Band but Tessellators are motivated by a wide-ranging love of music. Just back from a mini-tour, they should be on top form.
